Pre-Session Consultation
Once you send in your deposit and book a session with me, we will schedule an in-person or phone consultation. This is where I get to know a little bit more about you. I take notes, and we chat about what you like, what to wear, location ideas, any props, all of the different personalities of those that will be in the pictures, hobbies and interests, pets, any questions concerns you have about the actual session. These consults can take as long as an hour if you wish. I devote that time to you because I want you to feel like we’re old friends by the time session day comes! :)
After the Consult
I will tell you on the phone to feel free to call, text, email or message me anything! If you need help deciding on an outfit, if you have a cool idea that popped in your head, or if you thought of a different location- text me a pic, or email me. I am here for you- yes, even BEFORE the shoot even happens. I pride myself on being holding my clients hand through the whole process.
At the Session
Our session is going to be fun! I am always full of ideas and I am always prepared for anything that comes our way. I am very easy going and I have worked with children all of my life, of all ages, and I know how unpredictable babies and kids can be. Everyone gets moody, its who they truly are. I just roll with it, and I am ready to work with whatever mood they are in.
After the session
Time creating the custom artwork.
This is an area that non-prophotographers don’t realize is actually where MOST of the hard work and time is dedicated.
Sorting the best
After our session, I back up your images to my hard drive, then I set time aside and go through all of your images, sorting out the best ones. This can take hours sometimes. I narrow them down to the best 35-50.
Processing each one
Your images I take are shot in RAW. This means they are not yet jpegs. RAW images take longer, they are not “cooked” in the camera. I like to cook them myself. I view myself as a professional artist and I feel it is my duty to be in control of the entire process from shooting completely in manual mode, and processing the RAW images. If you don’t know what RAW is- they are very large files that aren’t tampered with by the camera. They are in a sense “uncooked”. I like to use the analogy of cookies and cookie dough. Think of your finished images as cookies- homemade cookies if you get images taken by me. I choose to take a little more time and make home-made cookies because they are just better quality. Once I process each file, I convert that image to a printable, high-res Jpeg. I view your images as custom artworks of your family and you should too. This takes time. Please give me a couple of weeks to create your custom artworks.
Creating your online gallery
Next I take your finished high-res printable artworks and make a copy of each one as a low-res image for web-use and put them in a “low-res” folder. I then create a special private online gallery for you and upload the web-version images to your gallery.
Viewing your Gorgeous Images
Once I am done setting up your gallery, I will contact you and we will set up a time to view your images! Its really a fun, no pressure, exciting time for you to see your custom artwork starring you and your precious loved ones! You will be given a password and once you are done viewing your images your will be able to share that password with your family or friends.
Purchasing your artwork
My end goal is to have you own your artwork and have it proudly displayed in your home. Many photographers shy away from digital files because we photographers loose money if we sell you the file. This is because you no longer need us. Once you have the file, you are able to print it as many times as you want, as big as you want, on any media- canvas, prints, mugs, calendars, notecards, etc. rather than coming to us each time. Traditionally photographers sold prints and so every time you wanted an 8×10, you would need to pay a premium price for that. I understand that digital images are the future, but I also believe the value and worth. These are not just files- these are digital artworks! I see these artworks in packages or a la carte. If you choose to purchase the entire gallery, you will get a large price break and some free gifts.Currently, packages begin at $500, a la carte images are $100. Clients usually spend upwards of $700.
