An eco-friendly alternative to glitter & confetti in photos!

I know we all want cool and fun photos, but throwing glitter or confetti, especially in nature is so bad for our earth and its animals.

I want to offer you some other options that are just as fun and cool in photos that still offers the same effects,

but keeps our animals and environment safe.

I often collect dried flower petals in spring and leaves in fall- they are already dead and have fallen on the ground, all you have to do is gather them up!

Earlier at this particular shoot- we had begun with simple photos at a nature preserve, and my clients &

I were shocked & saddened to find that other photographers were throwing glitter & confetti with their clients- at a nature preserve!!

If you are in a backyard or home or studio where you can safely clean it up, then I understand, but PLEASE not in nature, and especially not a nature preserve!

This photo was taken at the very end of the session near a parking lot where a wisteria tree had dropped piles of petals. I had the girls grab the piles of petals and throw them up.

They had such a fun time, and so did I!

Because the petals were dead, they were the consistency of thick paper- easy to throw, just like confetti!

I highly encourage you to try this. And if you must throw the confetti or glitter, let’s not do it in nature, agreed?

I’d love to hear from you- Do you have some eco-friendly alternatives for photos?
