(That’s Cooper above, a sweetie-pie from a family shoot I did a couple weeks ago.
I am loving that people have been incorporating their pets lately!)

Hey there!
Just a little announcement that I have one spot left before I am all booked up for 2010!
I have a waiting list for cancellations, so let me know if you would like to be on it!
Otherwise, I will getcha in 2011!

Its so funny, I am already making my New Years resolutions for 2011.
My #1 goal for next year is BALANCE.
Like most moms reading this, I tend to put everyone else first and get to me last, or never!
~Not good~
So next year I hope to be better at that.
I plan to work a little less, and establish better working hours- and actually stick to them (rather than work until 1am!)
Its such a balancing act!
I don’t know what I would do with out my parents helping me out with my kids!
They are always on call to take my son to Taekwondo, or soccer, or pick up from the bus, or let my 2 year old nap at their house, etc. etc.
My hubby has been so awesome too, he’s really been stepping up and helping out while I’m at shoots or working on processing photos, as well as just helping me with the kids and dishes when I need it.
(Speaking of that, I think we may be finally getting a dishwasher!!!! Yay!- We are taking my parents old one! Thanks again Mom and Gary!!)
Anyway, Thank you amazing family!!!
I couldn’t do it with out you!!!

Last weekend I had the amazing opportunity to meet one of my favorite photographers, Barb (Jinky) Uil from Jinky Art.
I learned so much from her- especially business-wise and feel so humbled by her talent!
One little nugget I took away from her was that she said:
brand yourself correctly and stick to your brand,
let it show in your work
and put the work that reflects your brand on your marketing materials, blog, etc…
For example, if you don’t like doing traditional posed shoots, don’t post it on your blog!
Post the kinds of photos you want to shoot!
Otherwise you will continue to get people who see that and want posed shoots!
The way I interpreted it is like the law of attraction:
put out what you want to get back, or reflect out what you want reflected back.
This can work in life and in business.

That was my first experience ever attending a workshop- I loved it!
I also was introduced to Photoshop actions. It seems I am the last photographer to buy and use these things.
I make up my own presets and actions, but I still have yet to try someone else’s. Its kind of a strange concept for me.
My colors you see on my photos are all ones I have created myself.
I almost feel weird trying other people’s actions and recipes, worrying that my work will look like theirs.
(But don’t hold me to that- I am still open to new things and experimenting! Just might take me awhile!)

Well, I have a gazillion things to do, but I wanted to stop and write a little today.
None of this was planned out- I am literally typing what I am thinking…
In fact I thought I was just going to quickly post that photo and be done with it!

Oh! One more very cool thing…
Barb Uil herself said she loved my Wildflower Studio name and brand and said it fit me (my style, my personality, my look ) perfectly!
To be successful, your brand should match who you are inside and out.
I was so excited to hear that from such an amazing photographer and business woman!

I’ll try and write more soon!
PS. Its almost fall and I am sooo excited! I love this time of year!
