(Taken with iphone)
The other day I came home and found this little rascal of mine out in the backyard,
doing his own thing in his beloved dragon costume.
Happy as can be, in his own little happy world.
It tickled me and made me so proud as his mama to see him so content just being him,
his own unique little self.
:)
He is truly a free spirit,
and everyone who knows him will tell you that.
(We have a few dozen stories about this character).
He didn’t care, or maybe didn’t notice the onlooking neighbors or passers by
quietly giggling at his dragon costume- so out of context.
He just happily played and unabashedly, stayed true to himself.

Later on, he and I were by the Christmas tree (sans costume), and he was admiring the tree ornaments.
He spied one with a photo of him as a baby
and exclaimed,“Look how cute I am here! Gosh I just love me so much!”
“I just really love me, this is just so, so special!”
It tickled me to see his purity, untouched with self doubt or insecurities.
Of course he did this with a pure heart, no ego involved. Just honest to goodness-ness.
I learn so much from this wise little soul.

Later, I tucked him in at night in his cozy PJS.
We did our nightly routine of singing lullabies and talking about our day, what we are grateful for, etc.
*****
I woke up in the middle of the night and I went and checked on him
and found a surprise…
That cute little dragon was back
sleeping this time :)
He must have gotten out of bed and put it on over his jammies.
That boy LOVES his dragon costume.
And more importantly,
he loves himself and is true to himself.
I am so blessed to have him as a wise little free spirt in my life.
I figured I would share this with you too.
May we all learn from this wise little dragon
and be proud to dance to our own beat too.
Until next time,
xoxo Shell
