Vermont

magical vermont

the first of our destinations last month.

we got up early in the morning so we could get there, enjoy the beauty,

stop at a few farms and towns, and then find our little lodge for the night.

we went through 3 states to get there and the kids did so great.

our first stop was a farm that made their own cheese and maple syrup.

We did a cheese tasting and a syrup tasting there, and bought some gifts as well.

after that we drove a little more.

Most of the photos taken on this trip were taken from a window of a moving car, but its such a beautiful place, it doesn’t even matter!

As the sun went down, and the day turned to night,

our tummies began to grumble and we were in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere

– but were definitely on the right track to our lodge in the green mountains.

we saw a field loaded with cars- looked like a tiny version of woodstock.

we pulled up – realizing this was also the place our new friends had told us to stop for dinner called american flatbread.

it looked so awesome- a rustic barn surrounded by fire pits, lots of people cozied up sipping wine

and having good conversation,

while piping hot gourmet pizza was served.

unfortunately, there was a 2 hour wait, and our kids were at their limit.

we could hear music, so we went to the barn next door to see what was going on- it ended up to be an awesome music fest!

We made a donation to support the local musicians, filled our tummies with pizza and  wine, while our munchkins ran amok with the local munchkins-

dancing, hula hooping, playing soccer, and grooving to the music with all the other kiddos in the chilly autumn new england night.

outside there were lots of little bonfires to sit by, all along a gorgeous, moonlit river, while folk music was sung and played on a stage

in a field in the lovely vermont mountains…

a dreamy, perfect end to our day in vermont.

magical.

*****

the next morning we hiked through the green mountains.

the kids did an amazing job!

after our hike we checked out of our lodge and headed over to new hampshire.

we drove and drove until dark, soaking up all the gorgeous colors and autumn scenery, and historical covered bridges.

(like I said, most pics are taken from the moving car window)

I’ll post new hampshire pics next post…
