I was thinking I could post some of those questions here with the responses I gave, in case some of you reading this may have also had those same questions.
Q. (After seeing the Video) Getting kids and parents to act normal is a challenge. Any tips for shutter bugs who want couples and kids to act normal?
A. Thanks A! Great question. Depends on what you mean by normal. I think you mean either not hyper, shy or tense,- relaxed- right? Well, because my shoots don’t have too many posed photos in them, I don’t have this problem too often. I actually enjoy when the kids are being silly, etc. I want their personalities to come out- shy, energetic, playful, giggly, imaginative- even grumpy at times. However- I do sometimes have some shy kids or very tense parents and that can be difficult sometimes. I try and start the shoot off by simply interacting and meeting the family and build trust. Then we begin with a simple posed family photo to warm up with. After that I guide them into interacting with each other in ways that are natural, or playful. Props or activities give them something to do and takes the pressure off. I try and go with the flow of the client- if they are a quiet and shy family, we go with that mood. If they are energetic and wild- we go with that. The beauty of it is that this means their essence comes out in their photos- exactly what I want to happen. I hope that helps! Great Question!

A. Upcoming California Mini Sessions: I will be out shooting in California {Ojai/Ventura area} July 6-10th! A. Yes, my last trip out for 2012 is in October. I am pretty booked up for full Sessions, but have openings for mini sessions. The mini session date is still to be determined. Please contact me if you are interested! :)
